Los Cabos Film Festival to Present Ewan McGregor with the Protagonist Award

Los Cabos International Film Festival is proud to confirm the attendance of actor and director Ewan McGregor, who will be presented with The Protagonist: 2015  excellence-in-acting award, on Saturday, November 14, 2015. The award statuette was designed by acclaimed Mexican artist Gabriel Macotela. McGregor will also present the special screening of his film, Last Days in the Desert, accompanied by its director –and festival special guest– Rodrigo García. The film, widely praised by the critics when premiered at Sundance Film Festival this year, is an imaginative version of Jesus’ 40 days of fasting in the desert.

Last Days in the Desert – Ewan McGregor plays Jesus and Satan in this hushed, austere and stirringly beautiful drama from writer-director Rodrigo Garcia.” Justin Chang. Variety.

Last Days in the Desert – The temptation of Christ in the desert forms the heart of this painterly film – but it is a meditation on fathers and sons as well as Father and Son.” Jordan Hoffman. The Guardian.

Considered one of the best actors of his generation, McGregor is one of the greatest talents in the film industry. He is renowned for his outstanding performance in 1996 Danny Boyle’s Trainspotting, as well as films such as Beginners, the Star Wars’ Saga: Episode I, II and III, Young Adam, August: Osage County, The Impossible, Moulin Rouge, and Big Fish. He has received numerous awards including, the Gotham, BAFTA, Empire Awards, Hollywood Film Awards, London Critics Circle Film Awards, European Film Awards and British Independent Film Awards, and in 2013 was appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire for services for drama and charity.

The Festival warmly welcomes you to this celebration of cinema at the 2015 edition of Los Cabos Film Festival, from November 11th to 15th.
