While the United States is in the middle of an undefined world war, Philippe (Martin Dubreuil) travels across the Old West making a living as a Charles Chaplin impersonator while masking at all costs his foreign accent. During this erratic journey, he meets a suspiciously optimistic talent hunter, an aggressive woman who is starving another woman and treating her as a pet, the violent leader of an underground criminal gang, and a mysterious cigarette salesman. Through the naivety and tenderness of this character, along with an increasing tension and disturbing atmospheres, the director Maxime Giroux achieves a visually striking dystopian tale, which works as a timeless and fine mirror that reveals the violence underlying our times.
